Selling your motorhome, Use a Dealer or do the deal?
Selling my motorhome needn’t be stressful, time consuming or dangerous. Whilst it’s true that you might be able to get slightly more money privately is that investment really worth it? There are many advantages to selling to a dealer and the first and foremost is its swiftness. Why drag out the process? No one knows how to sell motorhomes better than a dealer. Life is short and time is money, after a quick valuation you can have an offer and sale almost instantaneously through a dealership. Always shop around to make sure you’re getting the best deal, but this is a process that should take weeks, not months.
Advantages of dealers
The second major advantage of selling through a dealer is security. These are reputable and re-searchable companies with a history that you can trace to be sure of their legitimacy. It’s an unfortunate fact that due to the value of motorhomes and their emerging popularity, scams and crime within the purchase and sale of motorhomes has risen in the past couple of years. If you are going to sell privately it’s very important to do your research and learn to spot signs of danger.
Disadvantages of doing the deal
The very act of maintaining an advert and organising the sale of a vehicle as well as being time consuming can be quite stressful. It’s not as easy as it might seem to sell my motorhome. First you must clean, tidy, fix and beautify your vehicle so it appears fresh and as close to new as possible. Then you have to create a listing and gain interest so that you can then start dealing with the queries, phone calls and knocks on the door from various interested parties. After weeding through the scam artists and the time wasters you then have go through the arbitrary act of haggling to agree on a price. Why deal with all that when you can deal with a dealer?
